Cleaning your trusty cement mixer regularly prevents the cement from throwing a concrete tantrum. It stops the cement hardening, which can impact the mixers operation and affect the mixers overall performance. Protect the mixer against damages and help maintain its exceptional performance by remembering to clean your mixer!

 

How to Clean the Drum

 

Requirements & Steps

 

Requirements:

  • Protective gloves
  • Eye protection
  • Shovel
  • Water hose or pressure washer
  • Bristle brush

Optional:

  • Concrete cleaning solution e.g. concrete dissolver, acid-based cleaner, degreaser

 

Steps:

  1. Wear gloves and eye protection.
  2. Turn mixer off and disconnect from the power source.
  3. Remove any excess cement from the drum using a shovel.
  4. Fill the drum with water to around a third.
  5. (optional – add concrete cleaner)
  6. Turn the mixer on and let it turn for 10 minutes.
  7. Use a bristle brush to scrub away any remaining cement.
  8. Rinse with water using hose or pressure washer.
  9. Repeat the above steps until the drum is completely clean.
  10. Allow to dry before using again.

 

How to Clean the Outside

 

Requirements & Steps

 

Requirements:

  • Protective gloves
  • Eye protection
  • Water hose or pressure washer
  • Bristle brush
  • Mild soap

Optional:

  • Wax or polish

 

Steps:

  1. Wear gloves and eye protection.
  2. Turn mixer off and disconnect from the power source.
  3. Use hose or pressure washer to clean off loose material.
  4. Use a mixture of soap and water, and a brush to remove stubborn material. Do not use harsh cleaning products on outside to prevent damage.
  5. Rinse with hose or pressure washer.
  6. Dry using a cloth.
  7. Finish with wax or polish.
